Big news

First comes love...

Then comes marriage!

I am engaged!

With an engagement comes wedding plans, and then a wedding, and then a honeymoon! We have decided on a mid-April 2008 wedding and as a result, it has added complications to my Nepal trip planned for February 2008.

I have made what I believe is the wisest decision about my Nepal trip: I have decided to put it off until February 2009. There are many reasons why:

  • I was (and still am) having a difficult time trying to raise money. Given the extra time, i will have longer to save and be able to make more efforts to raise money.

  • The loving people at Allow the Children were (rightfully so) nervous about my traveling through strange (and dangerous) nations alone and I was having a hard time recruiting someone else to join me. After I am married I can easily recruit my husband to join me!

  • I just started a new job and only have 2 weeks of leave available this fiscal year. I am not sure it's very wise to ask for 3 weeks off of work within the first year of my employment. So, I will ask for two weeks the next year! ;)

For those of you who graciously donated money towards my travels, please do not worry. It is safe and sound in the hands of the folks at Allow the Children and they will keep it in an account for me. I can access it when I do finally go on the trip (Feb 2009). I am still very appreciative to those of you who are joining me in this journey whether it be through prayer or financial donations.

I will keep you all posted on any updates as they roll in!
